Aimed to promote, protect and preserve Métis culture and the Michif language through full-day programming Monday-Thursday each week.

To apply: use LSKYSD's online registration and select St. Vital Catholic School.

What is it?

Under the guidance of a Michif teacher, this program will connect children with Métis culture and language within prekindergarten programming.

The Michif classroom will use Heritage Michif, which uses both French and Cree influences.

Where is is?

The program will be located at St. Vital Catholic School.  As this is a special opportunity there are no boundaries for the program and students from across The Battlefords are eligible to attend.

Why should my child attend?

Students will:

  • build a sense of belonging and identity through cultural experiences and land-based education;
  • develop early Michif language literacy, numeracy and motor skills alongside the English language;
